The Martian
The Martian: Film Analysis is an analysis of the film The Martian, directed by Ridley Scott and released in 2015. This analysis highlights the hidden meaning and the director's intentions through various scenes in the film, particularly through the sets and camera angles.
The goal of this memoir was to test my lessons of cinematography culture by analyzing a randomly-selected movie. For my memoir, I got The Martian, in which the botanist Mark Witney, living in the near future, goes in expedition to Mars with his crew. He finds himself unfortunately abandoned; alone and left to fend for himself on an uninhabited planet.
The design direction draws inspiration from the futuristic theme of the movie, with a focus on a clean layout that serves to emphasize the visual impact of the film. During the design process, my primary focus was on creating an effective layout that could highlight quality of the content and ensure a fully printable editorial product.
Through this project, I was able to consolidate my editorial and print design skills, applying my knowledge of cinematography culture to a real-life case study.
