The Multimedia and Internet Professions department at Champs-sur-Marne is one of the departments at the Gustave Eiffel University Institute of Technology (IUT) that offers a cursus enabling students to express their passion for digital technology creatively.
In this academic project, I had the goal of refreshing the department's brand in solo to both showcase a new take on BUT MMI and also highlight more the diversity of subjects and fields approached by it.
With this new identity, MMI Champs fully embraces the digital world and its diversity through an energetic and lively image.
The visual style of the identity plays on collage and the blending of different worlds and visuals from the digital and creative spheres. This identity brings a new voice to communication, breaking away from the usual tone used by institutions and the academic world.
The icon symbol represents the union of the five pillars of the MMI in the form of an asterisk, a five-pointed star resembling a gear.
For the wordmark, its was designed around the concept of assembled pixels united by an ink bleed / offset effect ; representing both the screen and the print, the code and the creation.
In addition to black and white, the palette includes three colours associated with the three main subjects : Communication, Digital Creation and Development. Inspired by the RGB colour combination, they convey the department's fresh, digital image.
The new website will not only explains the programme, but also provided further information through news items and the department's portfolio. The navigation has been redesigned and the visual identity is more distinctive and consistent. The layout is more spacious, encouraging visitors to explore the different pages more effectively.
Through the mobile app concept, a simplified version of the style allows for better navigation. This new app would unite almost every different services used into 1 single hub of learning and communication.
